Serving Southampton & Winchester since 2002

CAWS Carpentry & Building Ltd serves Southampton, Winchester and the surrounding areas for all their building work needs.

We are a dedicated team with more than 30 years of combined experience in the building and carpentry trades, and we are just as capable of taking on the most involved projects as the smallest of jobs. We hold an extensive reference list, and many of our previous customers are happy to speak to potential clients should you want a reference.

Our clients include private homeowners, as well as other builders and contractors who bring us in to carry out part of their project — for example roofs, or the shell of a building.

Our promise

The price we say is the price you pay

We pride ourselves on our extras — in other words, unless it is agreed at the outset, there won’t be any. If additional work turns out to be needed, we discuss it with you first and never go ahead without your permission.

We will never turn your enquiry away, whatever the job — whether it’s a major extension, a garden wall or a new roof, you will get our attention.

Our reputation

Built on recommendations

Being a local Southampton company, much of our work comes from recommendations, so our reputation is all-important to us. Meeting our clients’ expectations is key to our business.

Whatever the scope of your project, we manage the practical side from planning through to completion, so you always know what to expect at each stage. We’re proud of our trade accreditations — Checkatrade, FENSA, the FSB and the Federation of Master Builders — which reflect the standards we work to on every job.

Not sure whether your project will need planning permission or building regulations approval? GOV.UK has a helpful overview of when consent is required for building work, and we’re always happy to talk through the requirements for your project before work begins.

What our customers say

Built on recommendations.

Caws Carpentry have done an excellent job at opening up our wall and reinforcing it with steel. Ryan and his team were professional – on time, no problems.

GGary LangdownCustomer review

Caws Carpentry undertook a large extension with new roof, attic conversion and total refurbishment of the whole house over a period of 11 months. Caws Carpentry were well-organised with great attention to detail and kept us informed and consulted on changes to scope and cost. The quality of workmanship and finish was exceptional and we are so pleased with the result.

SSophie LiddellExtension, loft conversion & refurbishment

I thought this was a fairly straightforward job but as it progressed I realised there was more to it than I expected. In the end 3 different teams worked on it and I appreciated them each being experts in their own particular trade, rather than using someone who was more of a general carpenter/Builders. Each team was very efficient and did a superb job. Ryan was always available if needed and I was consulted on each stage of the project, and he took a lot of care to ensure the final design would stand the test of time. Highly recommend
